Search engine problems

Recently I was ask to see why when someone I know goes to
yahoo, then type in xyz = anything ,into search area of
yahoo. All they would get back is a "Page Not Found"
So I type in google.com on the normal address bar and got
the same thing."page not found"
Then I download google search bar, from cnet downloads,
which when loaded, sits just below address bar and had the
same results every time I tried a search.
This is IE 6.0.
Now it gets abit thicker now.She also uses AOL as a
browser and I go there.Type in Yahoo>type in xyz in search
area..It all works fine.Type in google, which aol uses
anyways.Everything works fine.Go back to IE and same
problems.
It seems as though there is a setting that may of be mess
with or change in IE6.0>But I really have no clue what
that may be or even if thats it.
Please..Any help would be greatly appreciated.
If you want please E-Mail me direct with NOSPAM123 taken
out of my address (e-mail address removed)
Many Thanks JIM

If AOL is the ISP, they require their customer use AOL's
browser as a substitute for Microsoft IE. The two browsers
are mutually exclusive.

Your friend has spyware and browser hijackers on her system. The AOL
browser isn't hijacked but IE is. She should remove spyware with Spybot
Search & Destroy from www.safer-networking.org and Ad-aware from
www.lavasoftusa.com. Be sure to update these programs before running
them. These programs are free, so run them both since they complement
each other. It is best to run antivirus and spyware removal tools in
Safe Mode. You may also need to run CWShredder from http:/
www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/index.html . Please read the instructions
carefully. A great resource for dealing with spyware is http:/
www.spywareinfo.com.
