Search Companion not working

I have tried all three options suggested in Microsoft
Support to remedy this problem but with no success. After
downloading and installin the service pack, do I need to
run a certain file.
There are two files that are corrupted in SRCHASST, but
what do I need to do to fix this problem.
has anyone successfully fixed the problem with any of
these three suggestions?

I wouldn't use the companion because it uses alot of
memory that the computer could be using instead.
