search companion error

whenever i start up the windows xp - 'start' - 'search' - 'for files or folders' it pops up the message : "a file that is required to run search companion cannot be found. you may need to run setup" .. Then it opens up the search window, but i can't do anything except watch the puppy in the bottom left corner jump around

Any help would be greatly appreciate

Go to Start > Run and copy and paste the following line

rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %systemroot%\inf\srchasst.inf

This will reinstall search assistant. It will need the XP CD.
