Search button

Hi all - i need help. please.

The search button on windows Explorer doesn't work - i
click it and nothing happens. I can't get 'search' to
display on the start menu, and 'window+F' returns nothing

I've got Windows XP with Norton internet security, other
than that pretty standard fair...

I've tried re-installing the search assistant dll
(msgr3en.dll or something..) but nothing changed...

Please - any ideas anyone??? i'm doing my nut in !!

Stop the press !!

...its decided to work !!!

after all this time...it seems the install of the search
assistant must have worked...

My enthusiasm got the better of me..it seems Search only
works at the moment if Explorer is pointing at 'Printers
and Faxes'

i can workaround by selecting 'other locations'..but
still not the solution...

any ideas will still be gratefully received !!
