Search anomalies

First issue: when searching for *.divx or *.flv in an indexed folder, no
results except for zero byte file names (currently being downloaded, so
there is a ".part" file for the moment), and for items on the recently
opened list. It's almost as if the files are too large to be found!
mov files and jpg's are found just fine.

Second issue: for search criteria of "*.d", i get results that include
*.ico, .jar, and other files and folders that do not have a "d" in their
extension. anyone seen such weird results when searching.

I'm tempted to reindex, but that will take hours.

QUESTION: does the search function only find files that have been
successfully indexed, or does indexing just return results faster than
for files that aren't yet indexed, or are not in an indexed area?

The searching function in Vista is beginning to try my patience...

upon rebuilding the index, i no longer have issue #2. apparently the
index was corrupted. i hope this isnt going to be an ongoing issue with
Vista.

It will only be an issue if you insist on using the search features.
