Vista Seach inconsistency

Vista searches have are maddening.

Simple example:

When searching the music folder to determine how many mp3 files are in the
Music folder, I get results for folders that have been deleted. At first, I
assumed that perhaps, Search just looks at the index and regurgitates the
items from it until the the index is refreshed. This seems absurd but I
understand that perhaps it is a tradeoff needed to speed up searches. If
this is the case, I can understand a slight delay in getting accurate
results - perhaps a brief time while the index is refreshed to reflect that
some files and folders have been removed.

That does not appear to be the case. I deleted several files and folders
days ago, and Search still shows them in the results. This is nothing short
of just downright stupid.

I've seen that, too. Did you enable the "Folder" column header in the
Search window? It will show which files were found in the Recycle
Bin. If you click that column header, the results will be sorted
alphabetically by folder name, making it easier to see/ignore the
deleted files in the Recycle Bin.

I've seen that, too. Did you enable the "Folder" column header in the
Search window? It will show which files were found in the Recycle
Bin. If you click that column header, the results will be sorted
alphabetically by folder name, making it easier to see/ignore the
deleted files in the Recycle Bin.

The "Folder" column was already "enabled". Before I posted my comment, I
made sure that the Recycle Bin was empty. I have used every version on
Windows going back to the Windows environment under DOS and I am not a
novice user of search engines. Vista Search is just downright
counterintuitive for experienced users. The fact the one appears to have to
use uppercase "OR" to use the "or" operator is just one of so many user
hostile problems associated with this tool.
