SD photo card

I think while downloading pictures from my sd card somehow an update for
another program over wrote my photos. The card shows as full however I think
there was still some space. The pictures were important (our trip to
Scotland). I have tried Cardrecovery and Recuva--nothing. All I can do with
the camera is reformat the card. Please don't get technical on me. If it
can't be done tell me, if I need to take it to a computer shop please just
tell me.

Were you downloading by inserting the card
into a card reader or by connecting the camera
via USB?

Have you tried the card on a different computer
just to verify that the issue is the card and not
something else?

If Recuva or similar software cannot find the
photos...it's probably a lost cause. I would try
the card on a different computer though.
