Screensaver - Unable to activate

The WAIT window of my XPHome screensaver is gray and thus
I cannot set the delay time. I've tried removing all non-
Microsoft screensavers...in fact ALL screensavers but one
or two (MS screensavers) and still I cannot access the
WAIT window. Is there a registry setting that can fix
this? Or any other suggestions that would get it going
again would be greatly appreciated.
