Is there a freeware screensaver which will do slides with effects
(such as fading in or out, etc)?

Thanks,

Harvey

There are several apps which should allow you to create using your own
images: e.g., ImageForge has a tool to do this -
http://www.cursorarts.com/ca_imw_d.html to download.

Here are the steps to make screensavers in Imageforge...

1- go to its "Tools" menu and then to "Create Album or Slide Show"

2- on the "Image Files" tab, click the + button to add your pictures
(just highlight all of those which you wish to use)

3- also on the "Image Files" tab, there is a check box to turn your
slide show into a screen saver if you wish

4- go to the "Viewer" tab to give a file name for the slide show or
screen saver (this should end in the letters ".EXE" for a stand-alone
slide show, or with ".SCR" for a screen saver - without the quote
marks)

5- go to the "Slide Show" tab to add animated effects and sound if you
want.

If you are doing a screen saver, then once you have generated the
screen saver's .SCR file, just copy it to your "C:\Windows\System32"
(Win 2000 or XP) or "C:\Windows\System" (Win 9x or ME) folder so that
you can select your new screen saver from the list in Windows' Control
Panel/Display.

Harvey-

If you have Me or XP you have a slideshow screensaver. Right click on an
open area of your desktop. Then select Properties. Then select the
Screensaver tab. Scroll down to My Pictures screensavers. There you can
select the folder that you want for your slideshow.
