screensaver password inactive

I have a German version of Windows XP. In screensaver options, I've checked the box saying "require password to resume." Unfortunately, when resuming, Windows won't ask for a password. I've tried the links listed earlier for someone with the same problem, but they do not apply to me (one is W2000, the other doesn't apply).

Help, anyone?

I too am running into the same problem at work. We are
on a network and as such, cannot have the welcome screen
activated, but have the regular log in menu instead. My
screensaver appears at the prescribed time, but I do not
have to submit my password to gain access into the
computer. I have noted that the checkbox beside the
screensaver time is checked and cannot be changed due to
the fact that it is greyed in.

Any suggestions?
