Screen Saver works Intermittemtly

This forum has many topics regarding Screen Saver problems running Vista Home
Prem 32bit. I have read them and they refer to Screen Saver not working at
all, or, displaying Color Screen savers in B&W.

My issue with Screen Saver, and it been this way since I got my PC 6 mos
ago, the Screen Saver (I use the Windows Logo) will run intermittently. It
will work fine, then for reasons I cannot determine (like a pattern) it won’t
come on. To correct this I merely go into its settings and change the
mins…and it runs fine until the next time.

I have read the article on the Other Hardware - HID Non-User Input Data
Filter and it reads this update is for users with a Microsoft Cordless Mouse
and Microsoft Intelipoint Software. I use another brand’s Cordless Mouse and
software…so this fix does not appear to address my issue. I did look for the
Other Hardware - HID Non-User Input Data Filter but I could not fine the
actual Download, only the article (and I don’t see it in my Windows Download
History).

Suggestions?

Just another in a long list of things NEVER fixed in Windows. I have
never used anything but the screen savers included with whatever
version of Windows I'm running. Vista, like prior versions, simply
can't get it right every time, only working sometimes. At times it
displays the screen saver after 10 minutes (what I set), other times
no matter low long I'm away from the computer the screen saver doesn't
kick it at all. Other times the screen saver if animated will crawl
(try bubbles) other times not and no, it has nothing to do with load.
I've seen this when I'm doing video editing (intensive task) or have
the system doing absolutely nothing. So you're not alone. I've looked
for a fix for years, never found any yet.

Again this an internal Windows thing, but the Vista boys fan club with
blow it off with some lame excuse like they do with every Windows
problem. There are many reasons to hate Windows, sadly just is just
another thing that doesn't work as it is suppose to.

I have the same problem as Adam and not a cordless mouse in sight!
SP1 has not improved the situation and neither has Microsoft's customer
support who referred me to this site - but offer no solution.

I, too, have this problem. To reduce wear and tear on my monitor, and to
cut down on the risk of burn-in, I turn off the monitor each time I walk away
from the computer. Primitive, I know, but everything else I've tried has
failed.

I have a US Robotics USB internet phone. I found that when this was
connected to my laptop, my screensaver would not activate. Perhaps you
have a similar device which is causing problems.

Added later: A better option: click Start, then click on the power icon (the
one on a brown background). This will blank your screen and shut down your
hard drive, whicn obviously saves power (and your monitor and your
hard-drive). To resume operations, hit any keyboard key and wait for the hard
drive to spool up.
