Screen Saver won't activate

I've tried all kinds of "fixes" (including Compaq Tech
support) but can't get any screen saver to
activate...!!!... Any ideas?
 
Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services, scroll down to
TASK SCHEDULER, right-click on it and select PROPERTIES.
Set it to AUTOMATIC and then click START.

Right-click on your desktop and select:
Properties > Settings > Advanced > Troubleshoot
and move the Hardware Acceleration slider to "Full",
then click "Apply".
