Screen resolution

I recently upgraded the graphics driver to 8.4.4.0. Since then every
time I start my XP Home it adjusts the monitor to 1280 * 1024 from the
original 1024 * 768. Any hints on how to stop this irritating
behavour?

Can you provide additional details on what graphics card you have?
