I recently had the hard drive go out in my Dell Inspiron
8100 notebook. I received a new harddrive from Dell and
installed it along with all the software. I also
installed the D-Link wireless router and adapter at about
the same time. Ever since, when I use Internet Explorer,
my screen will lock up. It is quite sporadic, may happen
in the first five minutes of logging on or not for an
hour. However, everytime I attempt to download Microsoft
patches, the notebook always locks up and I am unable to
get the fix. I originally thought the problem was with D-
Link however, recently I had only a Word document open
and the screen locked. Additionally, I have noted that
the screen locks when I am shutting down the notebook. I
have contacted D-Link and Dell and they each point to the
other as causing the problem. Any suggestions for
trouble-shooting would be greatly appreciated!
