screen locked and keyboard not working properly

My daughter left her pc logged on a couple of days ago whilst she visited a
friend. When she returned home her pc was
1. screenlocked, althought she has never set it up to be so (no idea of user
name or password to unlock)
2. Could not use right hand side of lettering keyboard to type letters.
Letters appeared as numbers on screen.

Could anybody advise me on how to unlock screen lock and remap keyboard
letters

Power off the computer and restart.
