Screen is blurry after updates - AND even WORSE ...

Oh jeeez, please help me out here. I am an IT Manager, and I cannot figure
this one out. I am actually typing this on a different computer in my house.
OK, so my computer did some automatic updating from Microsoft TODAY, after
that, everything is blurry (text, etc.). So, I uninstalled 3 of the updates,
but that didn't help at all - still blurry. So, here's the weird and
additional thing:

I try to go to support sites, like this one, and when I do, as soon as I hit
a link - for example, to get me here, -- IE disappears. I know you all are
going to be like "what's up with this guy" when I tell you this, but this
only happens when I go to SUPPORT sites to try and figure out what the hec I
can do about the blurry text.

So, I have 2 problems - my screen is now blurry, and I cannot access any
support page from my computer UNLESS I log into AOL, and use its browser
(which is equally as strange since it is the SAME browser (IE6.0), right?

I already scanned the computer for viruses and spyware - checked my start-up
configuration ... uninstalled the critical updates .. now what?

I'm so frustrated.

Thanks in advance.

Try this:

Display settings->appearance->efferts

Play with the settinge of "use the following method to smoothe edges of
screen fonts"

HTH

Is just the text blurry, or the whole screen? If the whole screen, it
MAY be a monitor problem. Try another. Going blurry IS a common failure
mode of CRTs.

Dunno what's up with the support site thingy. Not my expertise, maybe
some kind fellow will help out. You got any OTHER IT folks around that
may have played with filtering, or a practical joke.....? Mucked with
your HOSTS file, perhaps.

Didn't the OP say he was an IT manager? Surely there's some experts around
his workplace!?

Yes, well some companies lend flowery titles to their only guy..... :)
And some folks have too much pride, and don't ask for help from their
subordinates :)

The alternate theory being, Other expetrs already consulted, and no
solution found....
