Screen doesn't come on

Hi, the screen on my Toshiba laptop doesn't come on when it is started. Half
of those times, I receive three beeps from my laptop, with no picture on my
screen. I have to manually turn the computer on and off several times before
the screen comes on. Does anyone know what is causing this?
