Is there any way I can reduce the overall brightness of the screen? I dont
know, on everything the screen seems very bright, especially on white
documents- is there a way i can/how would i go about, making the computer
screen a little duller, or make it glow less?

Adjust the brightness control on the monitor. Another thing you can do
is alter the windows colour scheme. Right-click an empty area of
desktop > Properties on the popup menu > Appearance tab > Advanced
button. Click in the area that says "Window Text" and change the colour
to a pastel shade of colour instead of white. If you are using the
classic desktop in Windows XP, this will have a better effect because
you can get rid of all the white backgrounds. With WinXP desktop, you
still have large expanses of white on many windows, but the coloured
content inside the window will help some.
