My screen is too dim

Isn't there a Windows XP power adjustment or something that will enable me
to cause the laptop screen to be bright when the laptop is plugged in, and
another for when the laptop is running on batteries? I'd set them both to
bright - I care little about battery duration.

My Dell is in the Bios. I can't adjust the powered brightness, only
the 'on battery' brightness.

What make and model is your laptop?

I did find and download a 2200 manual - it quickly solved the issue.
Thanks, everybody...

Nothing like a RTFM with alink to the manual to fix a problem. ;-)
