Screen blanks after starting a browser

Hi all,

Strange thing on a Windows XP SP2 machine. 1.4 Ghz Athlon, yeah
pretty old processor on a 2 year ASUS motherboard.

But most things work great. We can play Age of Empires, train
simulator and all the "Tycoon" games with no problem. But if you
start up either IE6 or Firefox2.0 the screen goes blank. Everything
else is fine since I can turn the screen off and back on and it comes
back but do a couple more things in a browser and it goes blank
again.

I've changed the video card to a known working G4 and changed the NIC
from the onboard to a PCI. Problem continues.

It's fully updated and reports no viruses using AVG Free and Nod32.
It's got AVG spyware checker and SpyBot S&D both report clean.

I tried installing Opera but it crashed part way through the install.
I'm running a memory test now but I thought I'd see if anyone's run
into anything like this.

One thing could be the video cable connetion. Try a different one.
