When I am running my Dell Inspirion on battery only, the screen lighting
dims. When I plug the power souce back in, the screen returns to its normal
lighting. How do I keep the normal light while running on battery only?
Thanks!

Consult the laptop's manual to determine how to disable this built-in
power conservation option.

yeh, mine goes dim too and it is not a defect. ---but this is because the
screen normally uses a lot of power and by going dim it helps conserve
battery power. most batteries provided by the vendors are the cheaper ones
that can only hold a charge for about 60 minutes with a dim screen. i can
only estimate but if you run you lcd screen at full brightness, the available
power from a battery may be reduce by 50%

I have a dell latitude that does the same - it is part of the power
management.

holding down the Fn key and tapping the up arrow (which has a blue sun with
an up triangle above it raises the light back up.

hope that helps
