Scott MP3 player

I have just bought a Scott MP3 player MX92 FTR. I use Win XP SP2 on three
machines; a Dell Inspiron, Siemens-Fujitsu PC and Dan PC( 98 and XP).
problem is 'device unknown' on connecting USB to USB 2.0 sockets on all
machines. Have tried everything I can think of; manufacturer at
www.audioscott.com does not reply to e-mail queries; I have tried their Fr,
UK, german links with no support. the product looks really nice; but I can
only use it by transfering data (mp3) on flash cards. (not what is promised
on the box!).

All advice or support most gratefully received. Jeff

Jeff, it looks like your Scott MP3 player was made in France with French
internal commands. Unless you can find someone with a French version
of WindowsXP, you may be out in the cold.

Thanks Byte, actually the Dan and the Fujitsu-Siemens run XP Familiale + FR
SP2 and all updates. The French bought MP3 device does not get recognised!
Trying on UK XP Home + UK SP2 on the Dell Inspiron gives same result. You
might well be on the right track though as a cheap digital give-away camera
from Time, only works on the 100% UK combination. Hard to imagine that the
french O/S won't play the Fr sourced MP3 player, but possible, I guess. As
usual, I discarded the receipt so can't do much about it! I can insert flash
cards and get the mp3 working that way. As SP2 had to be French to load, i
guess all the driver data would be French. All my memory sticks and a very
much cheaper MP3 player I borrowed all work on all machines. Maybe the
player is faulty??

I'm most grateful for your reply; thanks
