Schronization Problem in AD domain members

Dear all,

I have an AD as PDC and another member server as BDC. The domain user
accounts are able to be synchronised but when I clicked on Group account
properties > Members tab in BDC, I received an alert " A global catalog
cannot be located to verify that the user logon name does not already exist
in the enterprise" and the member users became "gray" in color.

Can anyone explain to me why is it so and what else should I do to overcome
this and synchronised the two servers completely ?

Thanks in advance.

Warm regards,
CP

I think you may have your terminoligy mixed up a little
bit. If you are running AD on your DC it's probably a
PDCe, and a member server mean's it's not a DC at all, so
I assume it's another DC on your domain to backup the
first one (or a backup Domain Controller, not Backup
Domain Controller, confusing, huh?)

Anyhow, the first thing to check is DNS. Make sure that
the second server is pointing at the same DNS server as
the first one. Beyond that you may want to run dcdiag and
dnslint to see if they report any errors.

If both of those are clean, repadmin is your next step.
What do your Directory and DNS logs say on the DC's?
