Scheduled tasks

Someone reported the following to me, which shocked me to no end. He
is using Windows XP. After he changed his password, one day, his
scheduled tasks stopped working!!!

Now, pardon my french, but is that not terminally stupid?

What should password change impact scheduled tasks?

In real operating systems, scheduled tasks run regardless of password
changes. That proves that MS Windows is not a real operating
system. It is some sort of a joke operating system, unable to run
scheduled tasks after password change.

Also, for your entertainment, here's a video of MS Video Center
crashing in Bill gates' hands.

in XP the scheduled task requires a password to authorize the action.
(different users /tasks security levels)

there is a method for running tasks without a password

Scheduled Tasks - Running Tasks Without A Password
For XP Pro: Go to Start/Administrative Tools/Local Security Policy/Security
Settings/Local Policies/Security Options
Accounts: Limit local account use of blank passwords to console logon only.
This is enabled by default, disable it.

For XP Home: (Keith Miller) Go to Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this
key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa

Value name: limitblankpassworduse, Type: REG_DWORD, Data: 0 (disabled) 1
(enabled)

For Home: Run Scheduled Task without a Password (Line 67)

If the task is using a cached USERS account and password? It also might
not run if the account name is changed! DUH!!!!!!
