Scheduled Tasks & Map Network Drive

I have a scheduled task to run a backup of my local drive
as well as folders on two network drives that are mapped to
drive letters on this PC. The network drives are
automatically reconnected "at login" for my user name. The
scheduled task is set up to run as my user name. When it
runs, the mapped drives are not backed up. Scheduling a
BAT file to run a minute before the backup task, I
discovered that the response to a "net use" was that the
mapped drives were "unavailable", although they were both
recognized as being associated with specific network paths
(i.e., the "net use" output would say, for example, that X:
was \\somePC\someshare, but was "unavailable"). Doesn't an
"automatic" login for the windows task scheduler make the
same drive connections that a "manual" login for the same
user would? Also, I modified the BAT file task to go ahead
and make the necessary connections using "net use", then
wait around until it was 1 minute past the time of the
scheduled backup task before the BAT file exited, to ensure
that the backup had begun, but the backup task still
complained that the mapped drives were not there. Any idea
what gives?
