can I schedule a Custom Defender scan?

I ask because Full scans hang; I need to skip the Recycler and SystemRestore.

Wouldn't the easiest route be to wipe both of those locations clean?
However if you can't do that, you could add both locations to the Options
list "Do not scan these files or locations:", and then just schedule a
normal full scan.

oh, I've done that, *and* I've turned off both the Recycle Bin and System
Restore, and Defender still hangs on them.

However if you can't do that, you could add both locations to the Options
list "Do not scan these files or locations:", and then just schedule a
normal full scan.
