scanpst.exe keeps failing, what else can I do?

My pst file exceeded 2GB, I have used a truncating tool, even taking it down
to 500k but the scanpst.exe just keeps failing - anyone know of another way
of repaing pst files?
 
That's the only way I know of. Does ScanPST fail completely or just report
errors?
