Is there software one can purchase to run network driven scanners? Some
sort of after market app.
I have XP Sp2 and have a Brother Multi FUnction printer/scanner/fax that
runs on the ethernet LAN. The app that came with it does not work any
longer and I thought I might be able to buy something that will with this
scanner. I know XP has a wizard but Im lookign for something that is 1 step
button to scan and put file on harddrive.
thanks for any tips

The only possible source of softeare to enable you to use that scanner
over the network would be from the scanner's manufacturer.

thanks for the help. Im not trying to turn a scanner into nework scanner.
It already is a purpose built network scanner. The Paper Port software wont
work with XP SP2 and the company does not have any update for it. Its the
software that came with the Brother MFC unit.

Older scanners often don't have drivers for XP2. If you're
willing to spend some money, why not buy a newer scanner rather
than looking to buy software for it? There are a number of
inexpensive scanners that work well with Windows XP, such as the
Canon LIDE 20, which you can get for under $50 US.

That won't answer the OP's need. He has a network scanner and wishes
to continue to use it as a network scanner (why I won't ask). You
told him to buy a new, non-network scanner. Apples and oranges, my
man.

SP2 comes with a firewall the requires it be configured (even if turned off)
for network device connections or you might also try downloading the
software for a similar MultiFunction machine from brothers site, install
that and see if you can get it to work (I visited and they offer full
software downloads.)
