scanner problem

i'm runing windows xp i have a problem with my scanner it was working before,
now it has stoped working i get a error message about twain also a message saying that the cable is diconnected when it's not. the scanner is a canoscan n67ou.
i have uninstaled the drivers and reinstaled then but had no luck can ayone help thanx.

Check with Canon for assistance; one thing to try is to connect the scanner
directly to your system's USB port if it is currently going through a USB
hub.
