I am running a network over Windows XP, I want to know if it is possile to use the scanner of the network froma computer that is not directly hooked up to the computer? If so HOW?
The only way I can think of, would be if you use the
remote control feature of Windows XP (Pro, not Home).
You can than use that computer to scan a document. After
it is scanned, you can copy the file to your own computer.
Good luck.

Network scanning isn't possible on Windows XP unless you have a Xerox
Network Scanner. The best work around would be to use Remote Desktop as
someone else suggested, then copy your scanned file to a share on the
network.

The is a software package which allows to to share a scanner accross the
networ. However, I do not remember the name of it. Also, with the price of
scanner still falling, I may not be a good solution since the software may
be more expensive than another new scanner.
