Scanner not detected-Help!

After a Hard Disk failure I found that reinstalling my Epson Perfection
1200U scanner was faulty.
But Device Manager showed the scanner working OK
But when I tried to scan I got "The scanner cannot be detected"
Any suggestions please

I am pleased to tell you that after downloading the latest drivers I have
now connected with the scanner
