Scanner driver installation: Class Installer error

I attempted to install the Memorex MEM48U scanner. I
installed the drivers, rebooted, and then plugged in the
scanner to a USB port. I checked Device Manager and under
Imaging Devices noticed that USB Device had a yellow
exclamation point by it. I attempted to reinstall the
driver, and got the error message: "Cannot Install this
Hardware. There was a problem installing this hardware:
USB Device. An error occurred during the installation of
the device. The class installer has denied the request to
install or upgrade this device." I am running Windows XP,
and have used this scanner before without problem. I have
not used it in a while, and followed the installation
steps just as if I was installing it from scratch. I
really need the use of the scanner, and would appreciate
any help you could provide.
 
My best advice would be to uninstall the current drivers
and go to the manufacturers website and download the
newest drivers for your particular scanner.
