Scanner copy Utility

I have an Epson Perfection 1240U scanner. I recently installed a patch that
is designed to make the scanner's copy utility work. When I try to lauch the
Copy uitility the generic error message widow pops up telling me that windows
can't lauch the utility and do I want to send info to MS. I tried
reinstalling the patch and the entire scanner software and still the problem
persists. Does MS have a patch that can help?
