Scanner and Camera Wizard not working...

Hi,

My set-up : WXP Pro, SP2, up to date...

I have a Canon EOS, using Compact Flash Cards with a CF card reader
connected to a USB port. It used to work fine (for years!!) but for a
few days or even weeks now, without any special
action/installation/modification (except may be an automatic Windows
Update, but not sure of the date it stopped working), the process of
copying photos from my camera to the computer went nuts...:)

- after a reboot : when introducing the CF, the screen shows up,
asking for what I want to do. I select "copy images...", but nothing
happens. If I pull the card out and in again, nothing happens at all, no
message... (except a quick change in the cursor appearance). Nothing
happens until the next reboot.

- WIA service is ON, as well as Rpcss

- I have three of these CF cards, same symptoms for all three (but
using the same material, if I copy a movie on them for instance, for
which I selected "Open folder..." in the automatic execution box, it
will work just fine...)

- launching wiaacmgr.exe gives a message saying that it can't detect
my camera or scanner...

it looks like the "Copy image from scanner/camera" part of the service
is broken.

Any idea of how to repair it?

Thanks in advance,

JF

Forgot to mention : I ran "Autofix" several times, but no luck :-(
