Scanned items going into desktop background

What can I do to prevent all of the items I scan from
going directly into my list of desktop backgrounds. The
scanned items go into the folders I want them to however
they also go to the desktop background.

Don't put them in those folders.

As David C said, move the files to a different folder. Windows XP fetches
the image files (for background tab) from the following locations:

C:\WINDOWS

C:\WINDOWS\WEB\WALLPAPER

C:\Documents and Settings\<USER NAME>\My Documents\My Pictures*

C:\Documents and Settings\<USER NAME>\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer


Move the scanned items to any other folder.

Give full details but XP assumes you want your photos as backgrounds. You can always ignore them. If you have problems finding individual pictures type the name (or part of it) without a pause.

Look in any of the folders I said and delete that particular file.
