Scanned Image has a pink-redish line.

I have a new CanoScan 8400F scanner that I bought last year and I
hadn't use at all. I installed yesterday and all the scans have a
pink-redish line across the middle of the page. The glass and the
cover a clean and none of the documents to be scanned have any lines.

Does anybody have the same problem? I checked all the settings (which
are very few of them) and they looked fine. I deleted and reloaded
the software and the line is still there.

Thank you.

Make sure (if your scanner has) white cardboard cover in the lid for
ngatives is slid firmly into place. My moves occassionally causing a
similar problem.

Another problem related to lines is that the pre-scan warm up settings
are too short (not adjustbale on all machines).

Make sure the calibration area (usually at the starting point for the
scan and under the edge plastic ) is clean. A piece of dust will do what
you are describing. Otherwise may be a dead sensing element in the
scanning head if the pink line is in the direction of travel of the head.

If you're using the Canoscan software to do the scan, do a
"Calibration" and see what happens.
