Have you let Scandisk run completely? If so it should not bug you for the
next time you boot your PC. If it continues after it finishes I would load
the Windows XP CD and reboot then perform a repair on this windows
installation. Hope this helps!

There is no scandisk in XP. It's chkdsk. Try booting into the recovery
console and run chkdsk /p from the command prompt. To get to the
recovery console insert the XP CD and boot from that. Take the first
"R" for repair, then choose the installation and type in the password
for the built in "Administrator" account. If it's XP Home just hit
enter, the password is most likely not set. If XP Pro input the
password assigned to that account. At the ensuing command prompt type
chkdsk /p and let it run.

If you're still having problems download a drive diagnostic utility from
the hard drive manufacturer's website and run that to check the health
of the drive.

One important point. Before doing the chkdsk make sure you have a full
and complete backup.
