Scan my laptop for viruses

Hi,

I have a desktop PC running XP with Symantec Anti-virus
installed (I also have a subscription). However, the
software was bundled with my PC so I can't install it on
my laptop.

Is it possible to hook my laptop up to my PC and scan it
for viruses this way?

Yes. SAV can scan files across a network link. Network the two
together, map a drive to the root of the partition(s) on your laptop and
use SAV to scan across the network.

Note that this will do the scan but is certainly no replacement for
having AV software installed on the laptop that can detect and thwart a
virus before it gets a chance to infect the system. You may find this
