Scan in a document and edit with Word

I would like to scan a document and edit it using Word.
How can I do this?
 
You'll first need to put it through some OCR software to turn the scan into
text. Most scanners come with some sort of OCR app, and there are plenty of
freeware, shareware, and commercial OCR apps around.
