scan for udates not working

i have windows xp and when i go to the update center and
click on scan for updates it sits there for a few seconds
and then i loose my internet conection. it had always
worked just fine befor yesterday. i don't know if it was
a patch i downloaded or what. i downloaded updates 818529

First, you should always download one update at a time
just for this reason,that way you know which one is
causing the problem, if this is the case.Click on the
search area at top of the Microsoft product support
services page. Enter 818018 in the search box. This will
take you to the Microsoft knowledge base
