Just installed the SB Audigy 2 drivers from last Nov. in 5472 and it
installed fine and I have sound, no problem. In fact I used the same exe

My Audigy 2 was working with Beta 2, it is not with RC1

I did a clean install of RC1 (I had big TV Tuner problems with beta 2 and
RC1 would install over it)

At first it did not find my sound card, but later Windows Update sent me an
update which I tried repeatedly but it always failed.

Then I went to Device Manager and found a non-working device and told it to
search for updated drivers, and it did, and installed something.

Now I have: Creative Audigy Audio Processor (WDM), which it says is
working, and my volume controls say so, and Media Player claims to be playing
things, but nothing is coming out of the output port. My sound is visual
only >;^(

I had exactly the same problem; Vista thinks it is working, but it is not,
unless it is sending everything to the digital port but I don't have that
connected to anything... oh well, got no more time to mess about figuring it
out so back to xp for now :-(

The driver Windows update didn't produce sound even though it appeared to be
working, so I tried drivers I had downloaded on 8/23 for Beta 2 but these
would not find the hardware. Then I tried drivers I had downoaded on 6/13
and these installed and worked. Finally I tried the 8/23 drivers and now
they found the hardware and installed and seem to be working.

It says I have Version 5.12.22.1200 dated 7/7/06

That is all CRAZY (but I did it so I guess beta testing has made me crazy too)

in my case both version did not work well or crashed in the second version
for my audigy 2 (a window popped up stating the Microsoft is aware of this
problem) so i downloaded the XP home drivers and this worked

The XP drivers worked --- wow --- I really should have tried the XP
drivers first before going straight to the beta drivers for my Sound
Blaster Audigy 1 in testing of Windows Vista -- well I guess I have to
wait now for the Vista drivers to go out of beta status and my lesson is
well learned now to go with earlier stable driver(s) and then upgrade to
unsupported beta drivers if no joy with earlier drivers. Thanks for the
post and I appreciate it!
