Can the Windows Update (XP Home) files downloaded from Microsoft be saved?
So instead of having to download every time windows has to be re-installed
(which costs money and many, many meg), just get them back from a CD-R for
example.

Jason,

Go to Windows Update. Click the 'Personalize Windows Update' button on the
left and check the box to 'Display the link to the Windows Update Catalog
under See Also'. Click the Save Settings button.

Now under See Also, click the Windows Update Catalog button. Click the top
link to find updates, and scroll to find whether you re-install XP Home as
it was originally released, or with Service Pack 1 included. Then just
choose which updates you would like to download, where to save them, and
you're good to go.

GO to the MS Update site & download them from "Windows Update Catalogue"

Thanks for the info.
