Saving to .avi file freezes up

I have a 15 min. movie that I put together using still pictures and music. I
have previously been able to save to avi format and burn to DVD. However,
now MM just hangs up when I go to do this. I have been to Papa John's
website and even decreased the acceleration of my hardrive. This did not
work. I do not really understand the process of this "Codec" renaming and
how to go about doing this. Could someone explain what I need to do (in easy
terms) to find this problem?

Hello,

I strongly suggest that you restore all of your system settings to what
they used to be. Changing the acceleration of your hard drive / graphics
card or whatever else has absolutely NOTHING to do with your problem...and
I really do mean NOTHING WHATSOEVER

The graphics card plays no part in the compiling process

Slowing down your hard drive will simply make everything run slower

Don't worry about it though all you will get from him is the comment, Its
what I have read other people have done with success...it left one chap
with a system that would not work properly after following that kind of
advice. Its about time some one sued him for damages.

Anyway...have you read the FAQ I post in here most days called Crashes &
Hangs ???? You may need to follow the steps (exactly as described) for
re-installing DirectX, Codec Pack and SP2.

You might also want to download the program Rename Codecs from my
website.....it does exactly as described to all of the known codecs likely
to cause your problem. As far as I have been able to make out it has around
80% success rate. If you do use it....remember to Restore those codecs
after finishing with Movie Maker...Auto Restore is a fast option.

Maybe it's more the Problem Solving > Can't Save a Movie page than the
Crashes and Hangs one.
