Saving slides without PowerPoint

I just switched from MS Office 2000 Pro to MS Office Basic 2003. I
really don't want or need the full version of PowerPoint. I have the
Viewer, and for most purposes that's enough for me.

Occasionally, though, I do want to break out and save an individual
slide. I don't see buying the whole program just for that, but the
Viewer can't do it either.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!
Laura

Sorry but if you want to edit a PPT you have to have the right tools to do
it, in this case the full application. Sort of like if you need to cut a
board you need a saw and the True Value guy doens't care if it's one board
or a thousand. <g>

Hi,

You cant save individual slides in the viewer as that is really editing the
slide deck. If you don't want the full version, maybe send it to a friend to
do for you? Or you could use PowerPoint 2000 if you don't mind loosing some
alter features such as newer animations. Was PowerPoint 2000 installed under
Office 2000 Pro?

Please tell us your PowerPoint version,
whether you are using vba,
whether your dog has fleas, or
anything else relevant.

I was hoping someone knew of, say, a 3rd-party program that could do
this. However, I haven't found anything.

Maybe I've found a way to do it indirectly, though. Use a screen
capture utility to grab the picture on the screen, while viewing the
slide. That was suggested on another NG.

If an image of the slide will do you, then sure.

Or print from the viewer to:

- a printer driver that let you print to image files (SnagIt by Techsmith
includes one of these).

- if you have Acrobat, print to Adobe PDF and then save to image files from
Acrobat

Too bad Acrobat costs too much. I could do that at work, though.

Hadn't thought of the driver. Thanks.
