saving images

Recently when saving an image off the web the only choice I am now allowed is a Bitmap. Prior to this I had the whole range of image options available to me ie jpeg, tiff, gif etc...Does any one know how I might regain the ability to save images as a jpeg or gif?
Thanks

It's time to perform some house cleaning chores:

Go to Start > Run and type: CLEANMGR.EXE , and hit enter.
This will start your disk cleanup utility. Make sure to cleanup
your Temporary Internet Files.

In IE click Tools>Internet Options and under Temporary Internet Files click
Delete Files.
