Saving Forms

Hi,
I'm pretty new to word and I'm having difficulties saving a word document.
The document is basically a list of questions with check boxes and text boxes
from the control toolbox.
When people open up the document it opens with the control toolbox and in
design mode - can this be changed to open up with the form ready to be filled
out?
I've tried several different ways of saving this and tried protecting the
document but to no avail. please help!

Ok - I've sorted this. It's not the forms bit I required as I am using the
control toobox options. I needed to set the security settings in macro's to
medium (anything but high apparently).

Instead of using controls from the Control Toolbox, use form fields from the
Forms toolbar, then protect the document. See
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/FillinTheBlanks.htm and especially
the forms tutorials by Dian Chapman that this article links to.

You are going to want to start over. You don't want anything from the
Controls Toolbox in your document if you are a beginner. They will, at a
minimum trigger macro warnings, but also they don't work without macros, and
don't work in protected forms.

What you are want to be creating is what Word calls an "online form." Check
this in help. For more about online forms, follow the links at
http://addbalance.com/word/wordwebresources.htm#Forms or
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/FillinTheBlanks.htm especially Dian
Chapman's series of articles. You may also want to look at
http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/TblsFldsFms/LinesInForms.htm.

Also, you are going to want to save this as a template when you are done. To
use it, you use File > New to create a new document based on your template.
For more on the different kinds of templates, tabs on the file new dialog,
and locations of templates folders see
http://addbalance.com/usersguide/templates.htm.

Hope this helps,

I am not sure how you have it saved, but if you protect a document no one
else can edit anything.

They should be able to enter anything in an unprotected Word document.

I hope this helps.
