Saving files to default drive

I have just purchased an external hard drive and it works successfully. How
can I now make it my default drive (G) to ensure all files being saved go to
it?
 
Thats usually an option of your browser, for downloads
And if you move My Documents - rt click the icon>properties>move
It is also an option in most Office apps
 
Sorry, I don't quite understand that. Are you saying to move all My
Documents folders to the new G drive and from then on they will be saved
there automatically?
 
To the best of my recollection, yes

Thats if you want My Docs on your other drive.

If you use Office apps there is also an option for Paths, many other apps
may have similar
