saving documents to a DVD

i have more documents to backup than i can fit on 1 CD rom
i woudl like to a DVD+R or +RW but do not know how to do
this
please advise

You could use a program like NTI BackupNow to split your backup over several
CDs automatically. The best way to do this is to setup NTI BackupNow to
create the backups on your hard drive and then copy them to CD afterwards.
If you set it up to write directly to the CDs and then have a problem with a
faulty disc (disc 3 for example) you have to start over and repeat earlier
disks (eg 1 and 2).

If you want to use DVD you need to have a DVD Writer/Burner. I recommend
buying one that supports multiple standards (eg DVD+RW and DVD-RW). The
latest models will do DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW at around 4x speed but
are not yet available everywhere. Some shops for example still have the
earlier generation drives that only go at 2x speed at expensive prices. See
if you can find a review article in the magazines. The latest version of
Roxio EasyCD supports DVD writers and is very easy to use. Some drives may
be supplied with this program so it's worth checking what you get free with
the DVD drive.

My full backups now take three DVD discs so I have recently changed over to
using an external USB 2.0 Hard drive. This holds about 6 full backups and
means I don't have to sit there changing the DVDs so frequently.
