Saving Default Launguage/Spell Check in Word 2002

Hi,

I'm checking on behalf of a friend of mine with Word 2002. She uses several
different languages, but I think "French" is her default. The problem is when
she tries to do a spell check in a French document, the language setting
keeps jumping back to English. I thought I was doing it correctly by choosing
"French France" as the language setting, but it doesn't seem to be holding.

Am I missing a step or doing something wrong? Any other ideas or known
issues with this?

Thanks in advance.

Language is a character format property. If you Ctrl+A to select the entire
document, then apply the correct language, it will "hold" until you paste in
copy in some other language. Wrt setting the default language for new
documents, see http://homepage.swissonline.ch/cindymeister/LangFmt.htm
