saving clip from DVD

Using MS Movie Maker, can I save a clip from a home made DVD by playing the
DVD on my computer? I have converted some home movies of my kids (from VHS
to DVD). I want to put the DVD disk in my computer (LiteOn DVD Rom) and play
it, then try to capture certain scenes. Is this possible?

Do I need some other type of program to do this? Thanks Mike
